Ashgrove is Queenslander country, with pre-1940s timber, quarter-acre lots, and the front-room formality and back-room afterthought that defines almost every Brisbane Queenslander you walk into. Havana House, the published case study and the home featured in The Design Files Best Before + After 2022, is the reference for that work. It was about respecting what the building had right, like the fluted glass at the front and the original timber floorboards, while reworking what no longer served the way the owner lived, including the kitchen-living-dining sequence, the storage, and the colour.
