New Farm has its own design vocabulary, built from river-adjacent terraces, worker's cottages from 1900, the post-war infill on Brunswick Street, and the riverfront apartment blocks that went up from 2010. Each typology asks a different question of a designer, so the terraces want a pared-back palette and a deliberate hand on light, while the riverfront apartments want a palette that still reads at sunset. I've worked all four, and the Private Residence on Moray Street, a Myers Ellyett-designed home that Studio LaLa styled for the August 2022 architecture photoshoot, is the public reference.
Full interior design from Studio LaLa is delivered by me directly, without template proposals, and I continue to take Brisbane projects from the Cabarita Beach studio, 1.5 hours south. New Farm pulls me back often enough that the trades and the sourcing network here have stayed intact. It starts at $12,000 for a multi-room scope and runs three to six months end to end.
